qTest integration

The qTest integration connects qTest and Tosca Cloud so that you can manage your testing process and review results in qTest, and automate and run your tests in Tosca Cloud.

This allows you to perform the following actions:

Run your qTest test cases in Tosca Cloud.
Send or link a test case from Tosca Cloud to qTest.
Get execution results in qTest after each playlist run.
Review detailed results, logs, and attachments in Tosca Cloud.

Set up the integration

To set up the integration, you will work in both qTest and Tosca Cloud. Follow the steps below to get everything connected.

Before you start

Before you start, make sure you have the following in place:

Admin access to Tosca Cloud and qTest (opens in new tab).
Both tenants in the same region.

Link and configure the integration

To connect qTest and Tosca Cloud, follow these steps:

In Tenant Management (opens in new tab), link the tenants. To access it from Tosca Cloud, go to User menu > Settings > Integrations and select Set up in tenant management next to Tricentis qTest. You can also access it from qTest (opens in new tab).
In Tenant Management (opens in new tab), accept the invite to connect the tenants. This step is the same whether you initiated the setup from Tosca Cloud or qTest.
In qTest, activate the integration (opens in new tab).
In Tosca Cloud, go to User menu > Settings > Integrations to confirm the integration is active. Keep in mind that you can see the integration status but can't change or disable it from there.

The integration workspace

When you set up the integration, Tosca Cloud creates a new workspace with the same name as your qTest project.

If you rename the project in qTest, the workspace name is automatically updated in Tosca Cloud.

Unlink the workspace

You can unlink (opens in new tab) the workspace in qTest at any time.

Note that this removes all test case links. Test cases stay.

If you unlink the workspace, you can Edit or delete workspaces like any other workspace.

Connect a test case to qTest

To connect a test case in Tosca Cloud to qTest, select > qTest integration and choose Send to qTest to create a new test case in qTest. This becomes a converted test case, just like one you receive from qTest. You'll see the test case in qTest with its name and description but the test steps stay in Tosca Cloud.

Work with converted qTest test cases

You can find all converted test cases in the integration workspace. Before you can run them, you need to automate the test cases in one of the following ways:

Manually build your test sequence.
Use Tosca Agentic Test Automation to generate automated test steps for you. To do so, select Automate with ATA.

Limitations

Keep the following limitations for converted test cases in mind:

You can't delete a converted test case in Tosca Cloud, and you can't move it to a different workspace. You can move the test case to a different folder within the same workspace.
You can rename or change the description of a converted test case in Tosca Cloud and the change syncs to qTest automatically.
You can't sync test step edits back to qTest.
You can mix converted test cases and test cases you created in Tosca Cloud in the same playlist. However, Tosca Cloud only sends results of converted test cases to qTest, and only for test runs.
You'll not see results from a run on a personal agent in qTest.
