Manage workspaces
Workspaces divide your domain into individual sections. If you want to separate your work by products, projects, or teams, create separate workspaces for each. All users of a workspace share resources and collaborate.
Note that any user that belongs to your organization can access any of your organization's workspaces and resources. Tosca Cloud doesn't currently offer restricted (invite-only) access.
Choose a workspace type
Tosca Cloud offers two types of workspaces:
-
Open: The default workspace type. All users in your organization have access.
-
Private: A restricted workspace where only assigned users have access. Only administrators can assign access to private workspaces.
Administrators choose the workspace type during creation and can also change it later. You can see each workspace's type on the Workspaces page.
Change workspace type
Administrators can change a workspace's type anytime. To do so, go to
User menu > Settings > Workspaces and open the desired workspace. The option to switch is under Workspace type.
Create workspaces
When you start out, your organization has two workspaces: Default and Samples.
As an administrator, you can create additional workspaces. To do so, go to
User menu > Settings > Workspaces and select Create workspace. Choose the workspace type and then select Create workspace.
By default, every new workspace comes with standard modules and logic elements. If you select the respective option in the creation dialog, the new workspace also includes samples: modules, test cases, and a playlist for the Tricentis sample app (opens in new tab).
Tosca Cloud doesn't have any restrictions on workspaces, so you can create as many as you need.
Assign or remove access to a private workspace
You can assign or remove access for a user to a private workspace. The person who created the workspace is not assigned there by default.
To assign users to a private workspace, follow these steps:
-
Go to
User menu > Settings > Workspaces and open the workspace where you'd like to assign users. -
Choose the Workspace users tab and then select Assign users.
-
Choose your users and then select Assign to workspace.
To remove users from a private workspace, follow these steps:
-
Go to
User menu > Settings > Workspaces and open the workspace where you'd like to remove users. -
Choose the Workspace users tab. Select the users you want to remove, right click, and select Remove from workspace.
Edit or delete workspaces
You can edit or delete any workspace that you or one of your fellow administrators created. To do so, go to
User menu > Settings > Workspaces and hover over a workspace to get access to its
options.
Deleting a workspace deletes the workspace and all resources in it, such as modules or test cases. You can't undo deletions or restore deleted objects.
Get the workspace ID
If you want to run your tests in one of your custom Tosca Cloud workspace instead of the default one, you might need its workspace ID. To get the workspace ID, go to
User menu > Settings > Workspaces and check the Workspace ID column of the workspace you're interested in.
