User roles and permissions

Tosca Cloud has the following user roles: 

  • Administrator is the role with the most permissions for managing the organization's subscription, test environment, and users. The user who first registers the account automatically becomes an admin.

  • Contributor is the role with the most permissions for test authoring and test execution.

  • Viewer is the role with the least permissions overall. In essence, it's "Look, but don't touch." Users with this role don't count against the user limit in your plan, which means that you can invite as many viewers as you like.

If you're not sure which role you have, go to  User menu > Settings > Users and groups, find yourself on the list, and check your Roles. Administrators can also change user roles for Tosca Cloud.

As an administrator, you can also assign roles to user groups. If a user has more than one role, for example from their user account and from a group, the permissions are accumulative. The user gets the combined permissions of all assigned roles.

Roles per workspace

As an administrator, you can assign a role to a user or group within a specific workspace. The workspace role defines the user's or group's permissions in that workspace and overrides their tenant-level role.
