Configure the Tosca Cloud integration

Before you can convert test cases from qTest or run playlists in Tosca Cloud (opens in a new tab), you must configure the integration in each project where you want to use it.

In qTest, you have two steps to configure the integration with Tosca Cloud

  1. Link the qTest and Tosca Cloud tenants in the Tricentis Tenant Management application.

  2. Activate the integration in the qTest project that you want to integrate.

You can't change the selected tenant or workspace after setup.

Before you start

Verify that you meet the following requirements:

If you haven't let, check out the known limitations for this integration, so you know what it's currently capable of.

Link qTest and Tosca Cloud in Tenant management

To start integration, use the Tricentis Tenant Management application (opens in a new tab) to link your qTest and Tosca Cloud tenants.

Tenant management handles authentication between qTest and Tosca Cloud by letting you sort your tenants into groups. You do not need to manually configure OAuth between tenants after you add them to a group. You can add multiple tenants to the same group, but each tenant can only belong to one group at a time. For example, you can have two Tosca tenants and two qTest tenants in a single group, but this is the only group they can be added to.

Follow these steps to link Tosca Cloud to qTest in Tenant management:

  1. Go to Tenant management in Administration > Settings.

  2. Select Go to Tenant management to open the Tenant Management application. You are signed in to Tenant Management as the qTest tenant you're using.

  3. Select Invite tenant.

  4. Give your group a name.

  5. Choose Tosca Cloud from the Product name dropdown.

  6. Enter the name of the Target tenant you want to connect to.

The name of your tenant is your Tosca Cloud URL. For example, your Target tenant would be formatted as thisismytenant.tricentis.com.

  7. Select Invite. After you send an invite, a Tosca Cloud admin must accept it in Tenant management.

Tenant management regions

You can only connect your qTest tenant to a Tosca tenant in the same region. The following dropdown shows you which regions are compatible. Reach out to support if you have any questions.

Activate the integration in a qTest project

After you link your qTest and Tosca Cloud tenants, you can activate the integration in the qTest project you want to integrate with Tosca Cloud.

You can only link one project to one workspace. However, you can map projects in the same tenant to workspaces in different tenants. For example, let's say you have Project 1 and Project 2 in a two different qTest tenants, and you have a single Tosca Cloud tenant. If all three tenants are added to the same tenant group in Tenant management, you could map Project 1 and Project 2 to the same Tosca Cloud tenant.

Follow these steps to link a project in qTest to a workspace in Tosca Cloud:

  1. Open Integration Settings in qTest.

  2. Map your Tosca Cloud test run status to the equivalent qTest test run status.

  3. Select the Tosca Cloud tenant that you want to integrate with.

  4. Select Activate integration to save the connection and create a new workspace in Tosca Cloud that's linked to this qTest tenant.

After you successfully connect, select View workspace to see your new workspace in Tosca Cloud.

What's next

After you activate the integration, synchronize manual qTest test cases to Tosca Cloud to automate them. Check out Convert qTest test cases to Tosca Cloud.
