Use cloud licensing
Tricentis Tosca supports the following licensing types: cloud licensing and on-premises licensing.
This part of the manual is all about cloud licensing, which means using a license environment hosted by Tricentis. If you use cloud licensing, you don't need to maintain any license server infrastructure on your end.
Get started
For information on how to get cloud licensing, please reach out to your Tricentis sales contact.
Once that's settled, your first steps are simple:
-
If you're a license manager, manage your cloud license users. As a first step, you need to add license users. This gives testers access to your organization's license pool.
-
If you're a tester, connect your Tosca instance to the cloud server so you can use licenses to create and run tests.
Work with cloud licenses
Once you've completed your first steps, you can start working with cloud licenses.
Monitor licenses
If you want to optimize license usage and ensure coverage when you need it, monitor your team's licenses.
Check out licenses
If you want to reserve a specific license for a particular user for a limited time, check out this license on the user's machine. As long as the license is checked out, no other host ID can use it.
View available licenses
If you're not sure which licenses you have access to, view a list of all available licenses.
Return idle licenses
If you want to free up licenses for other users whenever you have Tosca in idle state, configure Tosca to automatically return idle licenses.
Switch between license types
If you have access to both cloud and on-premises licenses on the same machine, learn how to switch between license types. While you can have different license types on the same machine, you can't use them at the same time.
