Welcome to LiveCompare
LiveCompare is an SAP analysis tool for each stage of the SAP lifecycle. It runs on a Windows server machine accessed from one or more Windows clients. You install LiveCompare’s SAP components on the SAP systems you want to analyze, and create connections to these systems on the LiveCompare server.
An important function of LiveCompare is to assess the impact of change in your SAP environment. For example, if you move custom changes from development to a QA system, LiveCompare can identify a minimal set of most-at-risk objects recommended for testing.
LiveCompare integrates with a range of testing tools, for example Tricentis Tosca. If you use it with a Test Repository, LiveCompare identifies the following:
-
Test Hits, where a most-at-risk object has a matching test.
-
Test Gaps, where a most-at-risk object doesn’t have a matching test.
This helps you maintain and run tests for your SAP changes.

LiveCompare features
LiveCompare includes the following features:
Workflows
Workflows are flowchart diagrams which run a series of tasks in sequence. LiveCompare stores workflows in SQLite databases named workspaces. These workspaces are on the LiveCompare server, and LiveCompare presents them as a hierarchy of objects in the LiveCompare studio. The LiveCompare studio is an intuitive environment where you can create, develop, and run workflows.
Workflow diagrams include three types of objects:
-
Actions define the tasks that a workflow will perform.
-
Parameters define the data that the actions will use.
-
Datasets store the results of the actions, either as a hierarchy of comparison results, or table data retrieved from SAP.
Workflows may use datasets as inputs for other actions. Workflows may also use datasets to provide data for a report or chart.
LiveCompare includes actions for retrieving and comparing SAP data, as well as several reporting actions. A typical comparison workflow might retrieve and compare a set of objects from two SAP systems, create a report from the comparison results, and email the report to several users. Other actions analyze SAP data, for example by discovering dependency links between SAP objects.
Templates
LiveCompare includes a collection of pre-built template workflows to perform common SAP comparison and analysis tasks. You can copy templates into a workspace, then run the workflows directly or customize them to meet your own requirements. LiveCompare includes the following templates, which you can find in folders in the LiveCompare hierarchy:
| Template folder | Description |
|---|---|
| Basis | These templates assist with SAP project administration. |
| BW | These templates analyze the impact of change on SAP BW objects. |
| Guided Configuration | These templates configure LiveCompare to run impact analyses. |
| Human Resources | These templates compare and analyze SAP payroll data. |
| Impact Analysis | These templates analyze the impact of change on your SAP systems, and recommend an optimal set of most-at-risk objects to test to exercise the changes. |
| Prerequisites | These templates check the prerequisites for the Impact Analysis templates. |
| Shared Templates | These templates provide common functions. Templates in the other folders call these templates directly. |
| Synchronization | These templates compare objects and data on two SAP systems. |
| Tools | This folder contains a collection of utility templates. |
Apps
Apps present the input parameters for a workflow in a simple form-based interface. They run the underlying workflows and produce one or more reports as their result. LiveCompare includes a collection of standard apps to cover analyses in the areas of Development, Testing, Security, and Operations. You can access these apps from the Apps screen. You can also register your own workflows as apps to make them available on the Apps screen.
You can run apps on a range of devices that have access to the LiveCompare server, including mobile phones and tablets running iOS or Android.
Projects
Projects group apps and other resources into analyses that correspond to SAP lifecycle events. LiveCompare includes the following project types:
