Scan with Tricentis Automation Recording Assistant (ARA)

Your application has various controls, which are elements that Tosca Cloud interacts with when you run your tests. To make this possible, you must first scan your application. This gets the necessary technical data into Tosca Cloud.

This topic explains how to scan with ARA to record your actions into a test case.

Tosca Cloud can remember and repeat your clicks and interations. Simply use ARA, and Tosca Cloud creates a test case for you. You can see each step of your test case while you record and edit if necessary before your save your test case.

Supported technologies

ARA supports the following technologies:

• WinForm and WPF

• UIA

• Java

• Web

• SAP

Start recording

To start recording, follow these steps:

1. In the menu bar on the left, select Create to open a dialog.

2. Find ARA test case and then select Record to open ARA.

3. When ARA opens, you can create test steps the following ways:

   • Record controls

   • Verify controls

   • Create image-based test steps

4. Once you have the test steps you want, select . You'll automatically see your test case and modules in Tosca Cloud.

Edit your recording

You can edit your recorded test steps before you save them to Tosca Cloud:

• Change the value of a test step

• Add a comment to a test step

• Remove a test step

• Play back the recording
