Manage your zones

In NeoLoad Web, zones define where your test runs. You assign tests to zones based on available infrastructure. The Load Generator Agents and Controller Agents in a zone allocate resources automatically based on your test workload. In NeoLoad Web zones help you:

  • Organize your test infrastructure.

  • Reuse existing cloud or on-premises resources.

  • Reduce manual setup time.

Note: Only admins can manage zones. Testers choose a zone defined by their admin when configuring a test.

Types of zones

NeoLoad Web supports the following zone types:

  • NeoLoad Cloud: Preconfigured cloud-based zones. You can run tests in global regions without setting up infrastructure.

  • Static: Zones you create manually with specific controllers and load generators.

  • Dynamic: Zones linked to third-party providers, such as Openshift and Kubernetes. For information on Dynamic zones, check out Dynamic Infrastructure.

You can configure Zones in two places: the Resources section in User menu > Account settings, where you configure zones globally, or in the Load zones section found in the Test Creation panel. This lets you set up zones in advance or adjust them on the fly while configuring a test.

Note: To configure zones you need to be an admin. For more information, check out admin zone configuration.

Select a zone when creating a test

When creating a test, you can select a zone defined by your admin by following these steps:

  1. In the test configuration panel, go to the Load zones section.

  2. Choose a zone type: NeoLoad Cloud, Static, or Dynamic.

  3. Perform an action for each type:

    • NeoLoad Cloud: Select a cloud region.

    • Static: Choose a zone from the list.

    • Dynamic: Select a dynamic zone already created by an admin.

  4. Set the number of Load Generators.

  5. Toggle High-capacity load generators in case of a CPU intensive load generation, such as a test designed with RealBrowser.

  6. Select a Controller —this step is always required.

Note: You can’t create new zones while creating a test. Zones must already exist.

What's next?

Now that you can select, manage and create zones, it's time to run a test.
