Dedicated IPs

By default, cloud load generators send traffic from shared IP addresses that change between runs, so you can't predict which addresses your tests will use. Dedicated IPs are fixed addresses reserved for your account in a specific zone. Because the addresses don't change, you can configure your firewall to allow traffic only from them.

You choose how many addresses you need in each zone and how long to keep them. Dedicated IPs cost cloud credits, based on the number of addresses and how long you hold them.

You manage dedicated IPs in Settings > Zones, on the NeoLoad Cloud tab. Only NeoLoad Web cloud zones support dedicated IPs, and only users with admin permissions can manage them.

Before you start

Before you allocate dedicated IPs, make sure you have the following:

  • The cloud zone you want the addresses for is enabled. Disabled zones show N/A in the Dedicated IPs column and can't hold addresses.

  • Enough cloud credits to cover the allocation. The dialog shows the cost and the credits you have left before you confirm.

Allocate IP addresses

To allocate dedicated IPs to a zone, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Zones and select the NeoLoad Cloud tab.

  2. Check the Dedicated IPs column to see how many addresses each zone already holds.

  3. Select Allocate IPs.

  4. Select the Zone you want the addresses for. NeoLoad Web shows how many load generators across all tests and workspaces currently use that zone, so you can judge how many addresses the zone needs.

  5. Enter the number of addresses in IP count. The counter below the field shows your request against the maximum for that zone, and the dialog shows the cost in cloud credits next to the credits you have left.

  6. Select Allocate.

The addresses take a few minutes to allocate. When they're ready, the count appears in the Dedicated IPs column for that zone. If the column doesn't update, refresh the page.

You can't disable a zone that holds dedicated IPs. Release the addresses first.

Manage allocated IP addresses

Once you've allocated addresses, you can copy them for your firewall rules, change how many a zone holds, or change when they're released.

Copy IP addresses

Copy the addresses to paste them into your firewall configuration:

  • To copy every address across all zones, select Copy all IPs. NeoLoad Web separates the addresses with commas.

  • To copy the addresses for one zone, select the copy icon on that zone's row.

Change how many addresses a zone holds

To change the number of addresses allocated to a zone, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Zones and select the NeoLoad Cloud tab.

  2. Select the edit icon on the zone's row. Alternatively, select the zone to open Zone details, then select Edit IPs.

  3. Enter the new number of addresses. NeoLoad Web recalculates the cost and shows how many credits you have left.

  4. Confirm the change.

The Zone details panel also shows the zone's total available addresses, so you can see how much headroom is left before you increase the count.

Change the release date

All allocated addresses share one release date, shown as IPs release date above the table. To change it, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Zones and select the NeoLoad Cloud tab.

  2. Select the edit icon next to IPs release date.

  3. Select a new date. NeoLoad Web shows the updated cost and how many credits you have left.

  4. Confirm the change.

Release IP addresses

Release addresses when you no longer need them, so they no longer cost credits. Release them before you disable a zone.

Once you release an address, you can't get the same one back. Update your firewall rules before you release, or your tests may lose access.

To release addresses, go to Settings > Zones, select the NeoLoad Cloud tab, then do one of the following:

  • To release every address across all zones, select Release all IPs.

  • To release the addresses for one zone, select the edit icon on that zone's row, set the count to zero, and confirm.
