User group limits

Tosca Cloud limits the number of groups a user can belong to. It counts both local groups and groups synced through Single Sign-On towards this limit. Users who exceed the limit can't sign in at all.

The exact limit depends on your group name length: shorter names allow more groups, longer names allow fewer. Users can belong to a maximum of 80 groups, and no group name can exceed 200 characters. The table below shows the maximum number of groups for a given name length. It assumes that all your group names are around that length.

Allowed characters for group names

Group names can contain the letters A–Z and a–z, the digits 0–9, spaces, and the following special characters:

Group names can't begin or end with a space. These rules apply to both the groups you create in Tosca Cloud and those synced from your identity provider.
