Tosca Cloud integration
Tricentis Tosca offers two deployments: on-premises and cloud (opens in new tab).
With the cloud deployment, you can create and run tests within a SaaS application hosted by Tricentis. Plus, you can take advantage of the cloud's enhanced test execution service, Elastic Execution Grid. It's similar to the on-premises Tosca Distributed Execution, but faster and easier to scale.
If you're interested in cloud, this topic is for you. It explains what options you have for integration, so you can decide what works best for your projects. The topic also has links to detailed instructions on how to set up and start to use these integrations in your day-to-day.
Choose your integration
There are different ways you can use both deployments of Tricentis Tosca:
-
Transition: upload on-premises tests to Tosca Cloud.
-
Test execution integration (beta feature): keep your tests on-premises but run them in Tosca Cloud.
By the way, this isn't a hard either/or decision. You can also choose to take advantage of both.
If you choose transition, you upload TestCases and their connected artifacts to Tosca Cloud and run them there. Uploading creates a copy in the Tosca Cloud workspace you define during the upload.
Once you have your TestCases in Tosca Cloud, you can run them with the cloud's test execution service, Elastic Execution Grid. Test results stay in the cloud.
We recommend a transition if either of these things apply to you:
-
You're just starting out with Tosca Cloud and want to familiarize yourself with it.
-
You're thinking about moving from on-premises to cloud and want to get started.
Please note the following:
-
Uploaded TestCases are copies. Tosca doesn't synchronize between on-premises and cloud.
-
Uploaded TestCases are read-only in Tosca Cloud. We recommend that you upload tests where you don't expect frequent changes, such as smoke tests.
-
Results of uploaded TestCases stay in the cloud. Tosca Cloud doesn't report results back to Tosca on-premises.
Understand test execution integration

This particular feature is in the open beta phase and still under development. We don't guarantee full functionality in this or in future versions. |
If you choose test execution integration, you keep your tests on-premises but run them in Tosca Cloud. To run tests in Tosca Cloud, you use the cloud's test execution service, Elastic Execution Grid. Tosca displays results in both deployments: on-premises and cloud.
We recommend a test execution integration if either of these things apply to you:
-
You're happy with the full range of functionality on-premises but want to take advantage of cloud test execution.
-
You're just starting out with Tosca on-premises and are considering different test execution options.
Please note the following:
-
You need infrastructure in Tosca Cloud. If you already have DEX Agents, you can also set them up for cloud tests. For details on different cloud test execution options, check out this infrastructure topic (opens in new tab) in the Tosca Cloud manual.
-
You need configurations in Tosca Cloud, especially if you want to run specific tests on specific machines. For details, check out this topic on "characteristics" (opens in new tab) in the Tosca Cloud manual.
