qTest Manager Quick Start Guides

qTest Manager is highly configurable, whether you plan to use qTest on its own, or with Jira, Rally, or VersionOne. Follow the steps within the appropriate Quick Start Guides below to quickly set up and use qTest Manager.

Initial Setup

1. Invite more users to qTest Manager

2. Create a new project

3. Invite users into the new project

Using qTest Manager

1. Create a Test Plan

2. Create requirements in qTest Manager or import requirements from Excel

3. Add requirements to the Test Plan

4. Create a test case or import test cases from Excel

5. Link requirements to test cases

6. Plan your tests in Test Execution as follows.

• Use the Release from Test Plan, create cycles and test suites

• Add Test Runs to the test suite

7. Execute the Test Run

8. Submit Defects in Test Execution

9. Data Query

You can always access the Support Portal and the qTest manual through your qTest instance. Just select the Help icon to see your options.

From the dropdown, you can go to Get Help to access a manual article that relates to what you're working on in qTest.

Or, you can go to Submit Tickets to Tricentis to take a look at the Support Hub, where you can look through the knowledge base or log in to get help from a real person, depending on your needs.

Need support to log in to your instance? After you contact us, enable support login and give the support@tricentis.com account the permissions needed for us to see your issue, and we'll be able to log into your qTest instance to see things from your perspective. This won't affect your license count.
