Select a scenario
In NeoLoad Web, a scenario defines how a test runs—how many users it simulates, what they do, and for how long.
There are two ways to get started with a scenario:
-
Reuse a scenario from a previously uploaded project.
-
Create a custom scenario based on a population in a project.
Reuse a scenario
To reuse a scenario from a previously uploaded project, follow these steps:
-
Go to the test configuration panel.
-
In the load scenario section, select From project.
-
Choose a scenario from the dropdown.
You’ll see predefined parameters, such as:
-
Virtual users: Number of users in the scenario.
-
Duration: Test run time.
Remember that you can't modify these values.
Create a custom scenario
A custom scenario lets you define your own test behavior. You can you choose the populations, how long the virtual user actions run, and how virtual user traffic is distributed.
To start, upload a project and select Create custom in the test configuration panel. Then, configure Population, Execution policy, and Virtual users distribution.
Population
A population simulates a group of users interacting with your app or system.
NeoLoad Web adds a population to your test by default. You can either work with this population, or remove it and select + Add populations to add one or more other populations.
Execution policy
Execution policy controls how virtual users interact with your system over time. Select one of the following:
-
Duration: The test runs for a set time. Virtual users repeat their actions until the time runs out.
-
Iterations: The test runs until each virtual user completes a set number of iterations. One iteration means a virtual user runs once from start to finish.
Virtual users distribution
This parameter controls how virtual user traffic is distributed throughout your test. Select one of the following:
- Constant: Simulates steady traffic. For example, 500 customers are browsing your site at all times for 15 minutes.
-
Ramp up: Gradually increases traffic. Let's say you expect a sale to attract more visitors. Start with 50 users, and every minute, add 20 more until you hit 1,000. This helps you see if your site can handle growing traffic.
What's next?
Now that you have your scenario, it's time to select and manage a zone.
