Upload policies

Vera uses policy files (in JSON format) to define certain configurations and business rules.

From Vera 2023.2, you can manage policy files within the Administration UI. Add new policies, assign owners, view previous revisions, filter policy listing, update policies with comments.

Two types of policies can be uploaded: Approval Policy and Records Management Policy.

Note: A policy type added for the first time is set as the default policy type.

Add an approval policy

To add an approval policy, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to Vera administration site.

  2. Select Policy Management from the Vera sidebar.

  3. Select the +Add Policy button.

  4. Select Approval Policy policy type from the dropdown.

  5. Enter Tutorial AP in the Name filed.

  6. Select your username from the Owner field.

  7. Enter This is the tutorial approval policy in the Description field.

  8. Select VeraAPTutorial-part1.json from Choose File, and select Import.

The system will automatically give the policy a version 1.0.

Add a records management policy

To add a records management policy, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to Vera administration site.

  2. Select Policy Management from the Vera sidebar.

  3. Select +Add Policy button.

  4. Select Record Management Policy policy type from the dropdown.

  5. Enter Tutorial RMP in the Name field.

  6. Select your username from the Owner field.

  7. Enter This is the tutorial RMP in the Description field.

  8. Select VeraRMPTutorial-part2.json from Choose File and select Import.

The system will automatically give the policy a version 1.0.

Now that we uploaded the Approval Policy and Records Management Policy we can create a policy set with these policies and link to our domain.
