Scan your application

Your application consists of various elements, such as buttons, text fields, toolbars, frames, dialog windows, tables, and so on. These elements are called controls.

When you run your tests, you want Tosca Cloud to interact with these controls, so you can be sure they work as expected. For example, select a button, verify data in a table, enter text into an input field, or cancel a dialog.

To make this possible, you first need to scan your application. During the scan, you select the controls you want to test. Tosca Cloud grabs their technical information and creates a new module out of it. You can then use this module in a test case, where you tell Tosca Cloud what to do with the controls at runtime.

Before you start

Before you start scanning, check out our best practices for modules. They help you create modules that are intuitive to use, so you can quickly grab the right one for what you're trying to do. Even in environments with many testers creating modules.
