Install local components

Depending on the environment you choose for test authoring and test execution, Tosca Cloud requires some local components.

If your organization has restrictions on installations triggered by regular users, you need to prepare a roll-out:

Launcher

Tosca Cloud needs Launcher to install and manage necessary components on user and team agent machines. You need Launcher if you want to use Tosca XScan or set up a machine as a personal or team agent.

To install it, follow these steps:

  1. Select  Downloads from the top menu.

  2. In the pop up menu, find Launcher Installer and select Download.

  3. Install Launcher:

    • For GUI installations, double-click the LauncherSetup.exe file in your downloads folder and then follow the on-screen instructions.

    • For unattended installation, use the package management tool of your choice. Make sure to add the parameter --silent to your installation command. For example, LauncherSetup.exe --silent.

And you're done! Tosca Cloud silently updates Launcher when needed.

Browser extensions

Tosca Cloud needs browser extensions to automate Chrome and Edge during scans with Tosca XScan and during test runs on team agents. For this reason, when you install Launcher browser extensions for Chrome and Edge install automatically too.

In some cases, you may need to enable the extension, or restart your browser before running your tests.

Note that if you manually remove the browser extensions, you’ll need to reinstall them.
