Run automated tests

Once you've set up test execution and configured test execution behavior, you can run the following objects in the Execution section:

To run one or more selected objects, select Run from the context menu, or press F6.

If you want to start the execution from a specific ExecutionEntry in an ExecutionList, make a right-click on it and select Run from here from the context menu. Tosca Commander executes the selected ExecutionEntry and all subsequent ExecutionEntries in the ExecutionList.

At run-time, Tricentis Tosca pretends to be a Windows user to steer your system under test (SUT). If your SUT requires special or elevated permissions to access and steer it, you need to make sure that the Tosca has these permissions.

Track test runs via progress bar

During the test run, Tosca collapses the main window and shows a progress bar instead. This bar displays the following information:

  • The test that's currently in progress.

  • The high-level results of all finished tests. Green indicates passed, red indicates failed or returned error.

  • The elapsed time so far.

  • Remaining tests.

  • When you expand the More section, a list of latest failed tests.

Hide the progress bar

If you prefer to keep the main Tosca window and hide the progress bar, change the setting Show Progress Visualization under Project > Settings > TBox > Execution.

Pause and cancel test runs

To pause a test run, select Pause in the progress bar. Once your test run is paused, you can either Resume or Cancel it altogether.

Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcuts you defined in the settings Cancel Execution Key and Pause Execution Key under Project > Settings > TBox > Execution.

If you hide the progress bar, you have to use keyboard shortcuts or the status bar in the Tosca main window.
