Use Excel cell content or format

Description

When you create test data from Excel, you can choose which format Tosca uses to create test data from your file. To do so, select one of the following setting values:

  • Cell contentTosca uses a cell's content as it is to create test data.

  • Cell content in Excel-defined format: Tosca uses a cell's content in the Excel-defined format to create test data.

Let's say you have a date format defined in your Excel document: YYYY-MM-DD. You also have a column called Date of Birth, but the dates in this column are in the format DD.MM.YYYY.

  • If you select Cell content, Tosca creates test data from Date of Birth based on what's in the cells: DD.MM.YYYY.

  • If you select Cell content in Excel-defined format, Tosca creates test data from Date of Birth based on the Excel-defined date format: YYYY-MM-DD.
