Hints for workspaces

The hints highlighted in yellow at the bottom of the window are tips we offer to improve performance. Based on your environment, Tosca Commander suggests to optimize your workspace through these hints:

• Compact the workspace

• Improve layout performance

• Reduce workspace size

Note that you can enable or disable both the general hint function and also each hint separately, via the Options dialog (menu Project->Options).

Hint: Compact the workspace

The hint Compact Workspace appears by default after 24 hours since the last successful compacting and gives you different options:

• Click the Auto compact button to automatically compact the closed workspace in the background. This button always appears, unless you've already enabled auto-compacting option.

• Click the Compact now button to compact the workspace immediately.

Hint: Improve layout performance

The hint Optimize Perspectives shows which perspectives are impacting the overall performance of Tosca Commander and suggests some layout improvements:

• Collapse tree view structures.

  To collapse tree view structures, you can directly click the Collapse button or use the shortcut Ctrl + -.

• Close open windows you no longer need.

Hint: Workspace size

The hint Workspace Size appears when your workspace exceeds the recommended 5GB size.
