Manage workspaces

As an administrator, you can create and manage workspaces, as well as move tests and results across them. This helps organize testing activities and share results where they’re needed most.

The Workspaces page has two sub-tabs:

  • Users: Lists all workspaces with their name, description, and member count.

  • Resources: Provides an overview of the resource guarantees and resource limits for each workspace. Use the sort and filter options to identify workspaces with a specific configuration.

Choose a workspace type

Each workspace runs as either a regular or a DevOps workspace. DevOps workspaces run tests on Virtual User Hours (VUH) only, without consuming Web VUs and concurrent runs. They're best for lightweight performance tests that need to run quickly without blocking other workspaces. For example, tests integrated directly into your CI/CD pipeline.

A lightweight test in a DevOps workspace has these parameters per run:

  • Maximum 50 VUs.

  • Maximum 1-hour test duration.

  • Maximum 1 large cloud load generator from NeoLoad Web.

Choose what workspace type best suits your testing needs based on these characteristics:

Create, edit, and delete a workspace

When you start out, your organization has one workspace: Default Workspace. This workspace type is regular and can't be switched.

As an administrator, you can create, edit, delete workspaces, and switch their type.

Create a workspace

To create a workspace, follow these steps:

  1. In the left navigation panel, select Account settings, then go to the Workspaces tab.

  2. Select Create a workspace.

  3. In the Create a new workspace screen, enter a name in the Name field.

  4. Select the workspace type: Regular or DevOps. You need VUH in your account to select DevOps.

  5. Select Create.

NeoLoad Web redirects you to the Members tab so you can add members to the workspace right away.

Edit a workspace

To update the name or description of a workspace, follow these steps:

  1. In the left navigation panel, select Account settings, then go to the Workspaces tab.

  2. Locate the workspace you want to edit and then either:

    • Select the workspace name, or

    • Select Edit in the Actions column.

  3. Update the Name or Description fields as needed.

Switch a workspace type

To switch the workspace type between Regular and DevOps, follow these steps:

  1. In the left navigation panel, select Account settings, then go to the Workspaces tab.

  2. Locate the workspace you want to edit and then either:

    • Select the workspace name, or

    • Select Edit in the Actions column.

  3. Switch the workspace type.

A DevOps workspace doesn't allow guaranteed VUs. If the workspace has these configured, NeoLoad Web opens a dialog to remove them before you can switch the workspace type.

Delete a workspace

You can delete any custom workspace in your account. You can't delete the Default workspace. To delete a workspace, follow these steps:

  1. In the left navigation panel, select Account settings, then go to the Workspaces tab.

  2. Locate the workspace you want to delete and select Delete in the Actions column.

  3. In the Delete workspace dialog:

    • Confirm the workspace name.

    • Select Delete.

Guarantee Virtual Users (VU)

Guarantee Virtual Users (VU) to a workspace to give it dedicated license capacity. Tests in that workspace always have those VUs available, even when other workspaces run tests.

Your license capacity splits into two parts:

  • Guaranteed VUs: VUs reserved for a specific workspace. Only that workspace can use them.

  • Pooled VUs: License VUs available to any workspace. Workspaces with a guarantee also draw from the pool when they exceed their guaranteed amount.

To guarantee VUs for a workspace, follow these steps:

  1. In the left navigation panel, select Account settings, then go to the Workspaces tab.

  2. Go to the Resources sub-tab.

  3. Locate the workspace you want to configure, then select Guarantee resources in the Actions column.

  4. Set the number of VUs to guarantee for the workspace:

    • Web VUs: Number of Web virtual users reserved for the workspace.

    • SAP VUs: Number of SAP virtual users reserved for the workspace. Only available if your license includes SAP VUs.

  5. Select Save.

Guaranteed VUs and reservations conflict. Disable reservations before you guarantee VUs.
