Import Postman collections
When you're ready to scale your testing from individual API requests to performance testing, Tricentis NeoLoad lets you import your Postman collections in JSON format. This feature helps you quickly move from testing individual API interactions to load testing with your existing Postman collections.
Import a Postman collection
To import a Postman collection, follow these steps:
-
In the Design section of Tricentis NeoLoad, go to the User Paths panel.
-
Select Import Postman to start integrating your Postman collection.
-
In the dialog that opens, select the folder icon to open your file directory.
-
Go to the JSON file you want to import and select it.
-
Confirm the selection to import the collection into Tricentis NeoLoad.
Supported features
Tricentis NeoLoad currently supports these Postman features:
-
Postman Collection versions 2.0 and 2.1.
-
All types of variables and requests/groups, except GraphQL.
-
Various authentication mechanisms, including API Key, Bearer, Basic, and NTLM.
Limitations
Tricentis NeoLoad doesn't currently support these Postman features:
-
Disabled elements (you can import collections with disabled elements, but they might not work).
-
Postman-specific features: responses, events, scripts, proxies, SSL client certificates, and cookies.
Handle import warnings
If Tricentis NeoLoad can't use some items from your import, the system displays a list of these items after the import completes. The import continues even when some items can't be processed.
The Import Postman warning dialog provides feedback on potential issues, such as variables without default values. If you have variables without default values, add the correct values manually after the import finishes.
What's next
After importing your Postman collection, design the user path to add logical actions and timing controls that create realistic test scenarios.
