Install the WAN Emulation
The WAN Emulation function is useful to simulate degraded network conditions in load tests. To learn more, see WAN emulation.
A specific WAN Emulation driver controls the traffic generated by the Load Generator and simulates latency and packet loss conditions. The driver must be installed on the network interface card of the machine hosting the Load Generator. Either the Controller installation or Load Generator Agent installation.
You can install the WAN Emulation on Windows.
Caution: The "windivert32.sys" (or 64) WAN emulation driver can be detected as a malware on windows depending on the antivirus configuration. It is not mandatory if you don't want to use the WAN emulation. If you want to use WAN emulation, whitelist "windivert64.sys" or "windivert32.sys" depending on your system (32 or 64 bits).

On Windows, the WAN Emulation driver installation is fully integrated in the NeoLoad installer as documented in Install the Controller and Install a Load Generator Agent.
Note: During installation you will be prompted to also install the WAN Emulation driver. If you choose to not install the WAN Emulation driver during installation, the decision can be reverted by reinstalling NeoLoad.
The WAN emulation is supported for Windows 7, 8, 10, Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022.
For Windows 7, the WAN emulation is only supported for Windows 7 Service Pack 2 and later. If using Service Pack 1, download the security update available here.
Caution: The Base Filtering Engine service must be started for the WAN emulation to work.
