Test RFC Destinations

RFC Destinations allow LiveCompare to connect to SAP systems. LiveCompare Editors and Administrators can test an RFC Destination to check that it will work as expected when used in apps and workflows, or to download data from SAP. The test checks the following:

  • That LiveCompare can access the RFC Destination’s SAP system.

  • That the SAP system includes the correct LiveCompare core and optional transports.

  • That the SAP user account associated with the RFC Destination has the correct authorizations.

  • Whether the SAP system is Unicode or non-Unicode. LiveCompare adjusts its definition for the RFC Destination if required.

To test an RFC Destination, do the following:

  1. Select the RFC Destination in the Administration > RFC Destinations hierarchy folder.

  2. Select the Connection tab in the Details pane. This tab has the following sections:

  • The System Information expandable section lists the RFC Destination’s system details.

  • If any user has previously tested the RFC Destination in the studio, the Connection tab lists the most recent test results.

  1. Select Test to perform a connection test.

Successful tests

If the connection test succeeds, the Connection tab has a Test Succeeded section with the following tables:

Components

The Components table lists the RFC Destination’s installed SAP components.

Required authorizations

The Required authorizations table lists the authorizations required for the SAP user account associated with the RFC Destination. Review the table for any missing authorizations. Note that not all the listed authorizations may be required. For example, BW authorizations aren’t required on non-BW systems.

User’s authorizations

The User's authorizations table lists the authorizations assigned to the SAP user account associated with the RFC Destination.

Failed tests

If the connection test fails, the Connection tab displays the error message returned from SAP. Check the connection details in the RFC Destination’s General tab, and use SAPGUI to verify that the SAP system is available.
